He’d tuck that nugget of information about Ru away for another day; offering a simple, quiet smile, content to listen to her thriving moments. “Five headed cat,” he murmured again, checking the skyline for its illusive creations, before glancing downward to see Evie tucked against him, eyes slipping shut. Other than a brief snort at her actions, he remained quiet, stoic, and the residual guardian, as the rest of the land around them seemed to ease into a makeshift slumber; peaceful, drawn into sanctity and tranquility. Had he the ability to bottle those sparse moments of serenity and repose, he would’ve – but instead he cast his eyes around, breathed, and committed it to memory, leaned over to press his mouth to the corner of her eye; before taking up his knightly mantle once more. And if Evie happened to find little blades of grass woven into her hair when she awakened, she only had herself to blame.
