Hadama waited patiently as the stars above the waters traveled in their nightly dance, but when it became apparent that his prayer would go unanswered he picked up his pelt and bowed respectfully to the altar. The doings of the goddess were beyond his understanding, but he trusted that they were more important than his selfish request.
There would be other nights, and other prayers. His faith was strong and he took the silence with his usual phlegmatic acceptance. The Tidebreaker turned and spread his wide manta wings, swimming without hurry back towards the Underwater City. The trip gave him time to think, and to plan his next offering.
