Mostly because she does not want to be alone, even if she is not confident that she will be able to hide how affected she is from one of her closest friends.
With the warm summer weather, the screen door is closed but the main door is open so that Tal can come right in. Not that he has ever needed such a visual representation to know he can always step right inside.
