Despite this Fox's apparent good nature -- he didn't have to warn El, after all -- it seemed that he was a bit uncomfortable answering all their questions. Well, that's how people usually reacted. They caught a glimpse of some little nubs on his head as he ran his hand through his hair. He definitely wasn't just your average Accepted, then. This only gave them more questions to ask.

They wanted him to stick around, or at least be okay with El sticking around, so they felt the need to keep talking. A way of saying "don't go" without saying "don't go." Gods be damned, they were pitiful. "How do you become a monster hunter? Did someone teach you? You must be blessed by the Gods in some way."
