"Some of us regretted our choices, but we were mostly overshadowed by those in support of the Voice," he says softly. "And I joined them because it felt like a better life. Not having to be hungry, not having to get tired... in a place like the Grounds, it's easy not to want to worry about that kind of thing."
He doesn't mind talking about it, especially given that it's in the past now, and hopefully as time goes on people will forget the Ascended ever existed at all. "I don't mind answering, especially if it's to make sure you don't think I'm a monster like they were," he adds with a small smile.
About to say something else, Fox is interrupted by another skirmish out in the Oasis; he thinks it's more Echo Sharks at first, and he isn't entirely wrong, but the churning and foaming of the water suggests there's something a lot bigger in there, too. Furrowing his brow, especially as the water starts to stain red and a line of ripples begins to head straight for them, the hunter beckons Hawke away from the shoreline. "Quick, up onto the bank...!"
