So there is some relief when she tells him that she’s happy for them, and the space her hand had been suddenly feels quite cold when he slides it back to his side of the table, grabbing the fork to take a bite even if his stomach is still uncertain. It flip flops back and forth and he tilts his attention back down toward the plate, deciding that it was for the best realistically, but still worried about the official answer. “I had promised her that I would separate my office from my bedroom. I was thinking I could make it so our rooms were separated by the office.” Because they still were business partners on this, right? “I can make yours however you’d like.” An offering to do it for her, as if he didn’t want to leave her high and dry.
