That was normally the reason, and though Phoebe was only an 'aunt' to her insofar as Remi and Ronin were concerned and thus not nearly as affected by her disappearances as her son or former husband would be, still she could understand how disrupting it must feel.

As for a potential coup?
"I mean...I think the only reason to work together is that I don't know shit about the merkingdom or the merfolk. Honestly, I sort of wonder if it wouldn't be better just to like...split things up. We didn't have all these problems back when Torchline was just the above-ground stuff, you know?"
