On closer inspection, no place within the Climb was really cool. Not in the sense of fresh air and spaces that didn't make you sweat. But if ever a traveler had gone through the gloomy edgelord phase in their youth, Maea was sure they would appreciate the frothy blood waterfall or the black obsidian cathedral with its massive stone slab and the sacrificial bowl that smelled ever so faintly of blood. Had Evie ever been the broody type? She couldn't recall.
Either way it was too late to change the meeting spot now, and Maea really did have business to tend to here. Taking the time to stop before leaving the Crust, Maea collected a sack of ash and hauled it along down the sweltering tunnels. While waiting for Evie to get there, she unpacked the dress Ronin helped her pick out and carefully spread it out on the floor.
Sitting back on her heels, Maea paused to admire the thing. It looked even more impressive now, after a tailor had customized it for her. Black velvet fabric, a plunging decolletage, slits in the skirt and underskirts of luminous crimson dip dye that peaked through just enough to add interest... it boggled the mind to think it was hers. Her very own dress. A work of art that would turn even someone like her beautiful.
The idea of rubbing ash and blood all over it was actually painful, and she was still steeling herself mentally when the sound of footsteps announced the approach of another traveler. Looking up, she hoped it really was Evie - this wasn't the right place for random encounters.
