But no amount of running or sailing along skyships or flying would’ve made the notions any better – not with the way her body still trembled and nerves still frayed, wrangled and mangled on the ends. But her sister’s lantern was in her hand, and that would be enough. Rather than be social and carefree, because gods she didn’t feel up to it, the Caretaker found a free space amongst the lights and sounds, the freedom and liberation, the somberness and cheer.
