I was thinking perhaps if I had more time later I could paint both he and Vanya, larger, to hang over the fireplace? They are in a way the parents of this place, after all." Bastien wished to find a way to memorialize two of his original church members and this kind of work was nostalgic for him, similar to portraits he had painted for noble's houses back home.
