And it was all going swimmingly, too, until some nasty little creature decided that their materials would make a fine bonfire. He cursed under his breath, taking a few wary steps back as flames licked up the woodpile and smoke began to billow; the shadows cast by the sunlight and the fire gathered about him protectively. "Well, this is far from ideal," he remarked, glancing about for some water or something that they might use to smother the flames. Not that he wanted to get too close - instead, he worked on moving the wood that was still intact away from the burning pile.
