"I was until a short while ago," he admitted, smile wry as usual. "But they finally gave me a break and now it's some other poor musician's turn to serve the dancers!" He grinned at Vai and then at the young one in her arms. He was not good with babies at the best of times... but this was the best of times, and there was light and patience enough in his heart to welcome the infant as freely as his mother.
"Felix," he said solemnly. "It is my honor to make your acquaintance. I hope you're as good a dancer as your mother is!" With a grin he took Vervain's hand and led her out among the other couples. The music wasn't slow enough for the true romantics, but it wasn't quite the pulse-pounding pace of the wilder country dances either. They could move easily to the beat of the tambora without worrying about being bumped around too badly, and Jigano curled an arm to rest lightly on Vai's shoulder, protecting Felix just in case.
"Mistress Vai, I don't believe I've seen you dance before," he teased his friend as they joined the circle of dancers that shifted across the grass, stepping twice back and then three times forward before circling their partners. "Even during my rowdier performances in the Rathskeller. You've been holding out on me!"
