"A bear," Jigano repeated, deadpan. Then he broke into a broad chuckle and gave a shake of his head. "As often as I wander those woods, he has managed to elude me, I'm afraid. I don't think I've met any bears since I arrived, for which fact I am usually grateful!" Bears tended to be bad news for foxes, after all. Still, he grinned and returned Vai's wink. "I'll keep an eye out for him, though, now that I know that he's out there!" And a curious thing it would be, too, to meet a man who was a match for the formidable Vervain!
"Hardly 'darken,'" he protested, but softly as he bowed - first to the lady, and then again to her young son. "Dear Vai, it was my pleasure," he assured her with a smile that warmth without teasing, only sincerity. "Bring that husband of yours by for a dance at the Rathskeller some night when I'm performing, now that you aren't weighed down by your duties there," he suggested slyly, escorting her out of the shift and flow of bodies as new couples moved into the dance floor for the next song. "Let Edy watch Felix for a few rounds and I'll play something to really kick your heels up to!"
