It was dark out, and Rexanna had assumed now would be the best time to try and find Bastien. It had been a few days, and for the most part (over the last month or so) she had mostly kept to herself, spending time with her Ascended and not particularly caring or paying attention to much else. But then, then, he was gone; with no trace of anything that suggested he had planned to disappear. And so she chose to try and check out his current haunts — and when that failed, well, she continued branching out. She hadn’t approached the Greatwood since she and Bastien had explored it together, but it was as good a place as any to look.

In fact, Rexanna also hadn’t read the notice yet — hadn’t heard the rife, didn’t know her boyfriend had been thrown into the dungeon for disobeying (though it seemed entirely like him) and with no information to go off of, she hefted the pack onto her shoulder and slipped into the Greatwood under the cover of night, with her fireworks and wit to guide her way.

But what she hadn’t expected was to stumble across a familiar face. She couldn’t make out what he was doing, and she hadn’t really seen him in some time. Perhaps things had changed, perhaps his time spent with Lily had changed how he was. Perhaps it was enough to keep him from leaving her for dead again. At least he wasn’t hurt, wasn’t pining for a drink to bring him back from the brink of death. And so she made her steps known, eyes shifting in the moonlight toward the Ascended. “Didn't expect to see you out here.” She said quietly, her sapphire gaze nearly black in the absence of all the light of day.
