Leafchange was a wondrous reprieve from the onslaught of Tallsun – and though the girl had been born, baptized, and raised in the glow of fire, even some of the sultrier days had been brutal for her. So when the crisp, cool air finally made its keen notes on the wind, she wandered down into the woods, along the Outskirts, where signs were being posted. She took her time to wave to her friends gathered nearby, because there was always a crowd amidst these intriguing, wondrous things, and eventually, as she got closer and closer to the front, she read the scrawl along the post – eyes flickering at the wild Fae and then Delah once, nodding her head in a quick hello.The Cloister of Trials and Greatwood Guardian beckoned at her like a siren. It had nearly all the elements that ever required her attention: fighting, proving one’s mettle and worth, honor, and glory. There was hardly a thought to cease her from grabbing hold of one of the charcoal pieces and signing her name with a polished flourish. She stepped back and grinned brightly, dreaming of welcome achievements. Even if she didn’t manage to make it far into the rounds, simply testing herself would be a grand opportunity. Who had more bite? Who had more skill?
Now, all she had to do was keep training.
The honeybee girl waved again to those still remaining, before meandering back to where she’d come from, monstrous ambitions and aspirations on her mind.
