She blinked rapidly and stepped back into a streak of light through a window, lining her in shades of silver. ”It’s, um.. Just me.” Her nerves were frayed, her heart fluttering dangerously light, her very bones trembling, her stomach sick---
The words dropped like heavy stones, and the rest of her breath left her lungs with them. ”I need to know if I’m with child.”
