She turns her back to him which immediately seems strange to him, and he turns himself to face her as she spits more venom at him. He wasn’t even sure what to say to it, running through the options in his mind as he sighs softly to her. “I don’t doubt it’s been hard for you.” He offers her gently, though there’s a part of him that doesn’t think it’s been as bad as his life was. But he doesn’t dare voice it.
He still listens as she grows angrier toward him as well, and he props his head up on a hand as he stares at her back. “I just kind of assumed you’d tell me when you wanted to.” He pauses briefly, having not thought about any of it in regards to asking her about her own life. She had shared details, and he had listened. But to delve deeper? He wasn’t sure she wanted to share more than that. “I’m sorry.” He adds, knowing that if he asks now it would seem suspicious, so he doesn’t. “Phoebe, look at me.” His voice is soft and he reaches out to touch her shoulder gently.
