The festival was...a more than difficult time for Remi and Ronin. The bright acknowledgement of all they had lost over the past year (Vanya's lantern a sweltering reminder of just how quickly things could change), as well as the looming spaces on every branch that seemed to whisper next year, his lantern will hang here, was near enough to drive Remi mad.

Luckily, there was one soul for whom the darkness had not infected, and it was around her that the alchemist wrapped his arms. Aoife cackled happily, her fingers pulling at the feathers which appeared for her benefit on Remi's arms. Nuzzling the rolls on her neck beneath mounds of dark curls, the alchemist breathed in her scent, so pure and healthy, and let it dazzle his senses for as long as it could.

"Shall we see what Amalia has planned my sweet-star?" Remi asked, his beard tickling Aoife's ear and making her blow raspberries against his cheek as an outlet for her joy. Finding a place on one of the blankets provided, the alchemist sat down with Aoife in his lap. Clapping and cooing brightly at the stage, the starry-eyed girl reached out with grabby hands to try and pluck the decorations down. "You are just like your father. Always needing to have your hands on everything, mm?" Remi hummed against her hair. Pretending to pluck one of the star-decorations down, but really just conjuring a new one in his hands, he brought it down for his daughter who, of course, promptly put it in her mouth.
