i wanted to be ruined —
a little more than i wanted
— to be loved
She places herself, eyes drifting toward Jigano and Melita briefly, as she takes up the puppet, inhaling a ragged breath before smiling lightly, trying to be better — trying to push away the blight for this wonderful story. And she’s successful as soon as Ama opens up the drapes. She begins the tale, and Kiada maneuvers the puppet of Ludo toward the lanterns, the puppet touching and maneuvering them with a certain amount of attachment. She has never met Ludo, but she does her best to act like them, she does not want to disappoint. But from the tales Amalia has told her of the deity, she thinks she’s doing well. And she hopes they approve.

The puppet then pauses after Amalia’s narration, pausing with the rags of the puppet lifting to seem contemplative as it looks to the lanterns, then to the sky, back to the lanterns — before spinning in a small dramatic flair of flowing drapes to the Luxere, the puppets hands clasping together with enthusiasm.

She says nothing, but she hopes the crowd can see what she imagines to be a lightbulb going off.

The puppet darts from the lanterns toward the Luxere, a nearly come hither gesture for the deer puppet, a show of fun and trickery up its sleeve as she works it, aiming for the Luxere to follow Ludo to the next part. The deer are vital in this story, and she makes it seem as though Ludo is brimming with all the playful air she can muster.
