"Is it?" she wonders in half a whisper, watching his lips curl in that corrupted facsimile of a smile. He falls for her ploy, stumbling backwards, and Amalia is quick to reestablish her footing as Ronin releases her staff. The antlers, unfortunately, do nothing to slow him, something to remember as Long Night approaches, but not particularly important now.
What is important now is keeping from his reach, though with his speed and ferocity that task is a difficult one. He lunges at her, slipping past the staff in her right hand and hitting her squarely on the left side- or he would have, were it not for the shield on her forearm soaking in the brunt of the impact, her arm shaking violently under the rest.
Still, Amalia stumbles backwards, nearly losing her footing in the impact. Gritting her teeth, the girl is swift to lift her staff again, swinging it up and over the earth in a slicing motion meant to catch his chest and leave him winded on the ground. "At least you were in control when you fought the demon. Now you're as much a prisoner as it is."
