He just hadn't realized that Emmett's ex had been doing much about it. Then again, she had never shown him her best face, and after she had shouted insults at him - and, it felt like, half the men on Caido well before she had the blight as an excuse - he had never held the highest opinion of her.
The bard's brow furrowed at the information, trying to understand what Sunjata was saying. "Wait," he said thoughtfully, pausing to set down his stakes and string and turning to face the other man with a mix of confusion and curiosity. "Rexanna isn't a normal Ascended, though. She's something in-between Ascended and human, or at least that's how she described herself to me. A bit of both. And what do you mean the blight 'explodes?'" That, frankly, sounded far more terrifying. Could any of those infected explode at any time? Like the Spire Demon had?
"And what are 'cells'? Does the blight swallow things and blow them up?" It was a confusing explanation to follow, not quite contradictory, but not making much sense, either. "And are you sure you weren't blighted then? It took weeks for the symptoms to become obvious in some of us... and even then not all of us knew without divine intervention," he admitted with a faint grimace. He hadn't realized he himself had become infected until Ludo had told him. There had been no outward signs at first, no blackened eyes or blood, only a pervasive chill that might have been a normal illness and an odd scent that it would take an Attuned nose to note as out of the ordinary.
