Oh there’s a moment of pride when the firework hits with a mighty blast. But it doesn’t last long, one moment she’s ready to focus on it again, to send something else out at it, before she notices the other Ascended man she hasn’t met yet moving to hide behind her, and a branch reach out from the tree. It misses Wessex, but nails the Penumbra right in the side — up into the air and through the sky until she hits a different tree with a muffled crack.
Hands grip onto the tree, though her midsection feels off, and she’s sure she probably ended up breaking a rib or something. At least her arms work, her legs work, and she doesn’t feel the pain of it. It’s enough to get her back onto the ground and back toward the tree and Amun, a hand resting at her midsection out of habit when you just get hit by a tree. At least it’s better than getting squished by a pumpkin.
But they’re not alone, no, sapphire eyes drift toward the fae and she grits her fanged teeth, listening to the directions the Ascended Queen gives. She sucks in a breath she doesn’t need, eyes seekingAmun out. “Watch my back will you?” A soft question edged with ferocity. And she looks down to the hand at her side with the rings she wears, hoping she doesn’t almost die this time with the terrible thought she has. But while the others focus on the Fae, she edges closer to the tree on swift feet, staying on the move while she focuses on her fire magic, as small and unruly as it is, hoping to lead it into the branches of the tree.
Then, regardless of if it works or not, she aims to slip away from the tree and the fae, a small amount of fear of retaliation from both guiding her actions.
Rex comes back and gets close to the tree, jogging in a half circle around it to use her fire magic and direct the flame into the branches of the tree before hopefully jumping back!
