No one was more surprised than Amun when his hastily thrown rock actually hit Axe Dude. The stone slammed the other man right between the eyes, causing him to fall into a nearby tree. The potter’s eyes widened, and he felt a sick feeling in the pit of his stomach. He hadn’t actually intended to hurt the Axe Dude, simply deter him from attacking. However, as the blood poured from Axe Dude’s nose, Amun realized he might not have a choice: it seemed to be kill or be killed out here. And he really, really didn’t want to die.
Awesome as he thought Wessex was, she completely failed to take down Bottles. At least she distracted the snake and the fire guy. Unarmed opponent man had disappeared somewhere in the trees, and since there was still no sign of the redhead Amun had to assume that the stranger had something to do with that. The dark haired blue-eyed woman was tangling with the cat and the tree. However, Axe Dude looked in pretty bad shape, which the potter figured freed him from his duty to guard firework lady’s back. Besides he’d already done a smashing job of that. Cause the rock. Smashed Axe Dude. Get it?
Plus, he had no interest in following Blue Eyes command to target the tree. The tree was fucking scary.
He was panicking, again, he realized, so he reached down and scooped up another rock. ”I have a rock and I’m not afraid to use it!” He screamed it out to anyone who was actually paying attention to him. After seeing his performance, maybe they’d give him a wide berth. For his part, he ran over to where he’d last seen the unarmed man, figuring that would be a better opponent, and maybe, just maybe, since the other man didn’t have any weapons Amun might be able to talk his way out of this instead of fight.
Talking would prove difficult, as the unarmed man was unconscious. However, that presented the potter with an opportunity; he crouched down while simultaneously propping the other man’s body up, intending to use him to block any attacks that might come Amun’s way. Indeed, he put the other man’s body directly between himself and the tree while the potter’s eyes darted around for other potential threats. Although he felt a bit guilty for both abandoning firework lady and using the unconscious man as a human shield (or whatever he was, since it certainly wasn’t human) Amun felt the need for survival trumped his guilt. Besides, his allies seemed fine. Other than the first time firework lady got smacked by the tree, and well, yeah, the dead guy, they seemed to be winning this fight.
At least, that’s what he told himself.
