Where his heart had been heavier, where his mind had been straying, it disappears in her looming presence, in once-steel eyes that have shifted darker. And he can’t help but give her a beaky grin in response to her question, his mind racing through all the options of what he could say.
“How does it feel, to know that the stars are now within your reach?” Safrin coos, and his feathers ruffle happily around his head, around his cheeks, pressing the side of his head into her hands as his eyes shut about half lidded. The epitome of happiness. It feels freeing. He rumbles to her, accented and lighter than it had been before. A changed man, a new man.
