Putting a stranger on the same level as your best friend, though? That’s cold, and that's coming from me. As for your so-called courage, maybe it’s just stubborn pride and an inability to admit when you’ve lost.” Everything could be flipped on its head and he was willing to shake things up now.

I am a big baby stomping around, and maybe one day I’ll magically grow up.” He was totally fine with that particular impression. What he wasn’t okay with was her continuing belief that he’d come around some day. ”I wouldn’t hold your breath, though, ma’am. I have no interest in pouring my heart out to someone who betrays her best friend’s confidence and can’t keep her partners happy enough to stay.” He gave her a mocking little salute.
