But she continues and his brow raises lightly as he recalls which exact time it had been and he puffs out another breath, running a hand through his hair. “Ah yeah, wasn’t exactly my finest moment.” He rumbles thoughtfully. He couldn’t even blame that on the blight, since that day he had been fine, safe, his blood had been the same.
But the next thing she says causes him to frown, uncertain where to start. “I mean, she would have to deal with it. It happened before she came here anyway.” He shakes his head lightly. “It’s different. I’m not like Melita’s father that would’ve abandoned them after they were born because I didn’t want to be a father.” He tells her, all seriousness in his tone. “I don’t want to be one, you’re right. But I would have been there for you, for them, to do what I could.” However awkward that might have been. (let alone the exact same thing happened in Helovia, a one night stand resulting in the most beautiful daughter he had ever seen, and he had been a good father, until she disappeared in the Rift with him).
He puffs out another bit of a sigh before nodding to her next comment. “Well, Remi inspired me about the whole Attuned thing, and I went to the shrine I saw Frey at last and Safrin showed. So I’m learning.” He flashes her one of those classically him rogue smiles before he continues on. “I hope you find out too.”
And what she says next isn’t exactly what he wants to hear. “I’d still worry.” He replies quietly, arms folding across his chest again as he leans against the bookshelf.
