Maybe they were just lucky, or less likely than him to run headlong into danger. Probably both.
On the subject of risky situations, having Rexanna along might indeed be a bad idea. Still, the summoner had offered to pass along her gratitude, not bring her. ”Maybe.” Not that danger stopped either of them from doing what they thought was right. Or wrong, sometimes. Lots of times. ”You offered to bring me to speak to The Voice, so I figured I’d return the favor.” That seemed only fair. Although it had more been him expressing a desire to speak to the mysterious goddess, but close enough.

However, something about the idea of being with a whole group of other real people freaked him out in a way that getting it on with a god (well, kind of, whatever) did not.
