SHIELD
we watched the night under moonlight mixed in ocean air
the salty breeze tickled our necks
and we counted galaxies forgetting boundaries,
imagined reaching for them,
like for each other
He treats her army as a true giant might, shuddering a moment before shifting, changing, taking the form best suited for the task: for what miniscule militia might could hope to withstand a cat?

The mice are sent flying a d fleeing in turn, easily routed by their robust opponent. Mildly bemused Amalia watches, rather remorseful for putting them into to such a situation, the remorseful general who grossly miscalculated what battles her infantry could manage. So distracted is the girl that she misses his onslaught yet again, only turning back in time to be thoroughly assaulted by a pawful of grime and watch his tail as he streaks away.

Toothily, the leopardess grins.

A leopard is no match for a tiger, of course, but a qulin's legs are long and lithe, their bodies made of supple sinew. In an instant she has shifted, donning a coat of lavender and steel before setting off in pursuit. Cloven hooves land on vaporous clouds rather than mud, keeping her from being terribly bogged down and increasing her dexterity. The long tail, however, is left to drag, beautiful fur growing more and more matted as it soaks in mud like a sponge.

It isn't long before she catches up, or close enough to attack. Without much thought to precision or aim she brings the long, long tail around hoping to catch him with its collected filth, to leave his sleek coat as dirt-streaked as hers.
SWORD
the stars lined our heartbeats,
and we fell
so much harder,
than we ever had
before
