Even if the Giant hadn’t fallen into the portal, Jigano’s roar would have wrenched the creature from the Queen’s concentration. As it is, she knows there’s something else up there, but clearly doesn’t know what. What she does figure is that it’s now or never.
Preparing to assault the roaring thing above with biopulses, Wessex unsheathes her claws and braces herself with her legs against the walls of the crack. Taking a moment to jab herself with the adrenaline booster she almost always carries in her little pouch, Wessex looks up at the debris and plunges her claws into the (hopefully) solid dirt walls as the energy sears through her. She sends a biopulse out and then pushes with her feet and pulls with the strength she’d used to move those earlier boulders.
Once she can see the dragon, Wessex directs another biopulse towards it and hauls ass out of that crack, taking a leap for the blue-white beam of energy.
