THE RESURRECTED SWORD
How did you survive? they ask
How long did you suffer?
how dark did they tint your dreams?
They applied themselves thoroughly once more, the bard’s and General’s efforts combined to sort out the task of maneuvering furniture. The smaller items were easy, parceled out by either with little effort or discussion necessary; desks, chairs, and some other assorted goods. The Sword placed some of them in the front room, where they could be utilized for discussions and meetings – but when they come to the table on its side in the back, they would have to strategize. It took some finagling, twisting, and turning, but in the end they’d managed to evade completely pulverizing wooden frames or snapping at one another, with the table manifested as a center piece. Later on the beast could create some maps for the walls or figures for whatever purposes they required – plans drumming along his brain. He nodded to Jigano though, appreciative of the collaboration. “Thank you, well done.” He paused, eyeing the now empty venue. “I am going to start creating places for weapons and armor. You can assist Sunjata or there is the other room,” he’d gone over it earlier, but it wasn’t rat-infested. Just dirty, empty, and lacking any essence of living quarters. “I would like to use it to house soldiers who wish to stay.” Any supplies required could be found nearby, or if Jigano felt other provisions necessary, he need only say the word and Deimos would concoct them.

Sunjata had similar success with his target-making, the boards and straw withstanding in their fundamental shapes. If the Attuned found it necessary, or the least bit amusing, there was also some paint cans nearby, in case he preferred adding some additional touches to straw faces or more targets – especially ones for arrows or swords to run through.

Perhaps it was due to rot. Perhaps it was due to age. Perhaps his stars were not aligned, but Oliver’s work disintegrated before his eyes, the old door crumbling to pieces around him. Maybe that was all well and good in the long run, easier to replace and assemble, but much more work piled around him. There was always some broom nearby, in case he needed it. Otherwise, the other door was replaced quite quickly, with just a mess littered in between.

--

Oliver has a mess to clean, Jigano has a choice to make, and Sunjata can keep working on targets! If Oliver wants to help Jigano or Sunjata, that’s fine too!
- until you had blood glistening on your teeth
- until your suffering paled in comparison to their own
- until you learned to enjoy the sounds of screams
