They dive deeper into the labyrinth and Oliver responds to Sunjata’s random landing in the Labyrinth with a poised, theoretical question before mentioning perhaps to put a sign down for anyone lost within, and his gaze slips back down to the other man with a slight shake of his head. “I don’t think it’d work.” An easy response. “The labyrinth shifts, so it doesn’t exactly stay the same.” He muses, looking back ahead along the path they take. “When I landed, it looked very different from how it does now, the trees and what not change to make it seem different.” Shoulders rise and fall in a shrug as Haai darts from them to Oliver’s.
She sniffs before she settles in around Oliver’s shoulders like a scarf, wings outstretched along one of Oliver’s shoulders, while she kicks her back legs out in comfort. At Oliver’s offer, however, he nods. “I’ll keep it in mind.” An easy answer, knowing that Haai could be a real pain in the ass, and he wonders if there’s ever a time where he wasn’t around that she’d simply let him go off on his own. It seemed unlikely.
The question of how they met, though, insights a nostalgic look as he thinks on it. “I found her egg in the mud in the Outskirts.” He pauses, one hand leaving his pocket as he runs a hand through his hair. “She’s pretty brave so not much has scared her yet. She did bite me though right after she hatched. That’s why I named her Haai, she liked the name I guess.” He shrugs. He’d called her a shark and she’d appreciated it immensely, while he still thought it was rather ridiculous. “Not sure about jewelry, she messes with my bracelet occasionally but she’s far more interested in chasing mice.”
