Ingrid trudged along at the back of the group, grumbling internally. It still would have kept us from getting lost, but suurreee, let’s put our trust in gut feelings and the magical powers of friendship. As if the labyrinth was punishing her for trying to bring algorithms into something that was supposed to be fun, the ceiling above her promptly collapsed in a shower of rubble.

Ingrid’s instincts kicked in as she bolted, and unfortunately, her instincts were the one part of her that still thought she was a sixteen-hand warmblood. Her feet slid out from under her, and she found herself face-down as stones bounced off her back and inflicted several fist-sized bruises. She looked up and spat out a mouthful of icy cave-dirt. Gross. But I'm not dead, right? She nodded in response to Deimos's question. Luckily, she didn't have to find out how much it would have hurt to move, because Loren came over and offered to help. The aches vanished. "Thanks Loren. I'm Ingrid, the designated moral support," she said. Her tone was playful, but she really was starting to wonder why Jigano had offered to let her come along. "And I'm definitely all for going away from the rockslide." Also, she couldn't move one of those rocks if she tried.
