The muscles and bone layered within radiated a sharpening ache, but he kept the snarl of pain inwards, only rolling the shoulder in a definitive measure, attempting to gauge how much damage was truly contained. Perhaps a deep bruise, to be tended by Zuriel later.

Except the one he clambered and touched upon was quite foreign – not the feral tiger, not the noble eagle, but a bristling, massive bear. Were he still in his human form, there might’ve been a lot of stunned blinking, bewilderment, and confusion – here though, in front of an audience, he maneuvered forward, snarling, sneering, mouthful of teeth brazen and audacious. The beast lifted one paw, his good shoulder not bothered in the least (though now he leaned more heavily on the bruised one, still smarting), intending to swipe in the direction of whatever form Loren managed to take.
