They say blood makes you related but

When Loren realized that the other team was still discussing their plans, he called off his birds and his bunnies a bit guilily. However, blue team had already finished their deliberations, so the summoner simply picked a convenient tree to lounge against while he waited. He nodded in approval as Oia'i'o straight up vanished. Between her demi-god magic and her illusions, she should be nearly impossible to find.

As soon as Oliver called out that time was up, the Launceleyn sent out his instructions to the starlings again. They went winging off, searching for any sign of the red team's flag. Wherever they indicated, he'd send his rabbits to go try and snatch it, passing it between the three of them as necessary.

Loren calls birds to help search for the red flag! If successful, he sends bunnies to try and snatch the flag and bring it to their side.

MELITA
It wasn’t her job to find the flag. It wasn’t her job to hide the fabric.

She was there to defend.

Their plans completed, the girl grabbed hold of her bow, the familiar string and tethers billowing through her soul, a narrowing of her eyes segmented solely on Kiada. Then she pulled one of the arrows lodged in her quiver, felt the brilliant sensation of fire hastened across, along its edges; the Harpy would remember. An inward snicker pulsed within her chest, within her soul, within her mind, but it was too early to be sure, overconfident. All she wanted to do was offer the same violence that the rest of Helovia had seen, had been embedded within. All she wanted was vengeance. All she craved was revenge; an eternal knife-wound in her heart. When their time was up, the arrow was notched, the string pulled back, her aim segmented solely on the opposing woman, and sent flying, snapping, sizzling through the air. It felt like hatred and vitriol, like abhorrence and disdain, like ruin and abominations.

Fangorn, on the other hand, put his nose to the ground, wandering along the perimeter, striving to pick up anyone or anything meandering, slinking, on their portion of designated terrain.

--

Once preparations are finished, Melita aims a fire arrow at Kiada. Fangorn is searching their terrain line for anyone trying to sneak in.

KIADA
tell the boy you love that you are too dangerous to keep
take scissors to the strings tying you to him
They’re given a bit longer to prepare, and she does her best to block the view from Jigano as he works magic and ways to hide the flag, to prepare and protect it as she sizes up the red haired girl, the faintest of old rivalry feelings bubbling up within her – sure that Oliver and Jigano can feel them, but she doesn’t try to hide it. No, if nobody knew that the two of these women could tear the world down around them in their ridiculous rivalries, well, they’d learn today.

When the time was up, everything starts moving, and Melita shoots a fire arrow at Kiada that the girl hisses at and shifts into her vulture form, trying to avoid the attack. But her scarlet eyes remain on Melita, wings flared as she aims to drop onto the girl with talons outstretched. All Oliver said were permanent damage, nothing about a bit of blood spilt, hmm? Perhaps Melita might realize now why Kisamoa had chosen her, why she had gone to the forsaken god so many years ago.

Perhaps it would make Melita leave her alone.

Kiada tries to block sight from what Jigano is doing, and when the call is set, she shifts to vulture form to try and evade Melita's fire arrows and then tries to tackle her in her vulture form!

Well seeing as you've already ignored the rules (you don't really understand them anyways), you merely continue as you have been. Your magic has curled entirely around you now, blending you into the tree you lean against as if you're nothing more than an awkward stump affixed to it. With your illusion magic at the ready, you weave a new reality around where you sit with the flag, recreating the dappled sunlight and smells (or lack thereof) that both should and shouldn't be present.

Oia uses her demi-god magic to blend in to the scenery and creates an illusion around her to trick the senses into thinking she isn't there.

OLIVER
With the game officially beginning, Oliver goes along with his mission, but oh no! Searching has proven to be fruitless as Fangorn, his dreaded enemy, has spotted him! Furiously, the fox attacked at the pumpkin creature, trying his best to get the thing to roll over or at least leave him alone. After a bit of fighting, he manages to slip away, taking off into the grass, now very loud.

He'd proceed to begin searching the woods, looking for anything that may scream out to him when he spots a weird....shape? How peculiar. It both fits in, but also doesn't, leading him to lower his body to the ground in an attempt to hide, waiting to see if anyone would appear to stop him from checking out the weird shape.

Meanwhile, a lot happens! Jigano is able to construct a perfect decoy for the flag! Kiada makes an attempt to shield him and does a great job! Once the game has begun, Loren sends a flock of birds that detect....the decoy! Leading to the rabbits following in hot persuit only to seek out the box! Both creatures fail to get into the box. Melita fires an arrow at Kiada that fails to land on its target, possibly due to Kiada or maybe due to being unable to aim. Kiada proceeds to try and attack only to fail as well! Slamming into the ground instead! Poor Vulture!

Oia....poor Oia. While she is able to somewhat blend in, it looks far more like someone wearing a Gilly suit. Something that looks right? But also super off. She is able to blend in, but obviously something is up!

Okay so this is gonna be a mess of a reveal, so lets do this!
Jigano: Successful in creating the box, using vines to wrap around it, and hiding with the flag!
Melita: Arrow was unsuccessful! But Fangorn was successful in detecting someone who tried to cross the line!
Loren: All of his creatures managed to find something! Unfortunately for their team, they found the decoy. They were unable to break into said decoy.
Kiada: Successfully blocked Jigano! She also managed to avoid the arrow. Unfortunately, she miserably failed to attack....like really really badly.
Oia: Critical Failure. Since it's passive magic, it did work, but it's obvious that there's something wrong with that nature.
Oliver: Failed to find a safe place to cross! He did succeed in his battle with Fangorn, but left with some scratches!

No posting order! Let me know if I messed up and I will quickly fix it!

When the birds came back to report that they were unsuccessful at getting the flag, Loren felt his lips stretch in a fierce smile. Apparently, they needed something a bit stronger to break into the box that was housing it. So, dismissing the birds, the summoner called upon his water magic.

He set a burst of water towards the box, attempting to blast it open or at least loosen it with water. Regardless of whether or not he was successful, he would instruct his summoned rabbits to try and break into the box a second time. If they got the flag, he'd have them bring it back to him, passing it between the three of them as necessary.

Loren tries to destroy the box with water and have his rabbits grab the flag.

MELITA
It wasn’t often that her arrows’ marks failed; not out of the realm of possibility, but rare. She’d practiced and maintained that constant accuracy for a long time, and to watch her precision flicker, falter, and scattered along the fields was naught short of vexing. Perhaps it’d been her vehemence layered behind drawn strings and tethered lines. Perhaps it’d been her abhorrence fumbling, shaking, her to the core. Perhaps it’d been sheer, dumb luck on the Harpy’s part.

Maybe she could change all that.

Too close now, as the bird flew by her, the girl allowed the bow to recede back into the bracelet on her wrist, grabbing hold of her staff. There was no time to contemplate Fangorn’s growls and howls, the sound of him following things, alerting others to the notion of enemy movements, only her anger. Only her hate. Only her vitriol, clattering down into the rushing motion of her arm, intending to swing the weapon down, down, down over feathers and wings, over bones and edges, over fringes and skulls. The game was far from her mind – the collision more definite, more prominent, than anything else.

--

Fangorn howls and growls that someone is coming onto their side of the field. Melita tries to hit Kiada with her staff.

KIADA
tell the boy you love that you are too dangerous to keep

Her scar almost visibly hurts as the fire arrow comes hurtling near, but she evades it – shifting from skin to feathers, taking to the skies in the attempt at tackling the red haired girl to the ground with claws to shred and a beak to tear. But that doesn’t happen either, the Harpy faltering as she crashes into the ground rather than Melita’s soft skin. A hiss leaves her, frustration blooming from her side of the Attuned bond, and when she rolls back over to see Melita’s brought that stupid fucking staff out, she shifts to her Caracal form.

Hissing and sneering at Melita, Kiada tries to avoid Melita’s staff by any means necessary, shuffling back and forth on her paws before launching herself at the girl in the hopes that perhaps a claw or two will land – perhaps teeth too, should she be so lucky.

Kiada shifts into caracal form and tries to evade Melita’s staff attack, then tries to launch herself at Melita.

The vines were still between Loren and the box, which was far back on the red team's side of the field, hopefully safe from elemental magics unless Loren came close enough to be in striking distance of the serpent. The rabbits concerned Jigano far more, and he watched unblinking as they returned - calling down a flock of a dozen crows to mob them and either kill the summoned beasts or carry them away beyond Loren's control.

He couldn't see where Oliver had gone, but the fight between Kiada and Melita was heating up, and he spared a flicker of worry as the two women started fighting in earnest; no sportsmanlike behavior there, only raw anger and intense dislike spilling into the game. He flicked his tongue out uneasily, waiting to see if anyone would come near the box in person or if he should intervene between the two ladies before blood began spilling in earnest.

Jigano uses his Beastmaster ability to call down a flock of 12 crows to kill or carry off the summoned rabbits, and waits for someone to come investigate the box in person. Also, he worries about Melita and Kiada maybe not being in the spirit of the game.

Well you can't see what you look like and since it isn't magic you actually control, you simply sit and watch. Passive as it is, more and more grasses and knots of wood cover you, until there's only the subtle blue of your eyes peering out. Illusion (hopefully) continues to take care of this, stroking away the imperfect angles of your knees and neck that label you as something not quite real.

Less than interested in this game with its strange rules, you watch those around you. Briefly you wonder how much is magic and how much is happenstance (especially between Loren and Jigano) since you obviously cannot see nor hear what is being controlled by whom.

Oia keeps passive and illusion magicking!

OLIVER
Ignoring the events of the previous post because someone messed up, Oliver had barely made it onto the other teams side when he heard a very familiar, unholy screeching sound. Gods no. Booking it, Oliver quickly tried to make his way far away from the creature. Luckily, the gourd didn't seem to have an interest in fighting, so Oliver wouldn't have to worry too much. This is how he would soon be left in a similar situation, one where he was now frantically searching for the flag. Of course, someone must surely know he's here thanks to the damn gourd. He didn't have time and things weren't really going his way.

So, Oliver makes an attempt to hide! He tries to make his way into a bush and hide. Whilst hiding, he also tries to make observations around him, searching for the flag or something to tip him off.

Meanwhile: All hell was breaking loose.

First and foremost, Melita and Kiada decided to fight it out! By some weird chance, Melita's swing completely misses! Kiada's strange amount of luck seems to continue on as she lands her attack on Melita! The feline pounces onto the opponent!

Moving on to the next set of trouble makers is Jigano and Loren. Oh, boys. These two seem to understand it's a game, though, that doesn't mean they wont play tough. Loren's water is a success! It seeps into the box and manages to loosen up the sides! The box is barely holding on, completely ready to snap open! So much so that even the lightest of pulling would probably open it. Jigano seems to have a fair amount of luck as well, the crows manage to attack most of the rabbits! Save for one, sad rabbit, who falls flat on his face, breaks his leg, and fails to even grab the 'flag'.

And Oia...man, her luck really does suck right now. She once again, completely fails to hide! Or well, sort of. It's a repeat of before. Obviously something is up, but Oliver doesn't notice for now because he's oblivious as fuck. She looks a little bit like a gilly suit or something of that nature. Get it. Nature.

Oliver failed to stay hidden from the gourd boy.
Gourd boy screeches to the high heavens that an intruder has arrived!
Kiada had a crit success with dodging and Melita also had a crit fail to hit (wow, that luck)
Kiada had crit success on attacking Melita. (Wow. Again.)
Loren succeeded in using the water against the box! The box isn't completely open, but is ready to burst!
Jigano succeeds in having his birds kill the rabbits! Sort of. One rabbit survives! However, he is unable to grab the fake flag as he completely fails. And he broke his leg. Ouch.
Oia once again crit fails to hide. Sorry Oia.

No posting order!

As the rabbits got destroyed, Loren gritted his teeth. He narrowed his eyes as he scanned the skies for more birds. However, before he could do anything about it, Fangorn started snarling. Dismissing the remains of his creatures, the Launceleyn immediately summoned two wolves. One went straight for the flag while the other padded alongside him as he dashed for the vampire gourd.

As he came upon the gourd, the summoner glanced around the area for whatever had disturbed Melita's companion. Figuring that whoever it was planned to find their flag, Loren sent his wolf out ahead, hoping to find the intruder and have the wolf run them out of the blue team's territory.

Loren summons two wolves, and sends one to the box and the other to find and deter the intruder.

MELITA
Another miss.

For someone who’d practiced, who dueled, who’d strived to ensure her accuracy, even in the waves and face of her impulsivity and impetuousness, this was utterly ridiculous. She had half a moment to sneer and snarl, some Korifian swear on the tip of her tongue, before being pounced upon, falling to the ground with the weight of the caracal upon her. The slash and rip of claws clung and tore into her skin, reaching and scalding along her collarbone, rampaging down the length of her arms, her own hackles raised, but no ability to transform. No ability to conjure anything (save for deities; and it wasn’t necessary here, not in a game – no high stakes except her pride). Pain conspired and shot through her lungs like a wall of fire, stifling, smothering, but gods she’d had worse.

And she’d never let someone like Kiada take her completely down.

Staff still in her hand, the honeybee girl attempted to sweep it around to whack the caracal completely off of her, spitfire emblems coursing through her veins, seething and surging through her blood, too entirely blinded by her rage to think about anything else. Not the game. Not Fangorn growling and hissing, moving forward to launch and assist Loren. Just vengeance and vitriol, just the childish, young Melita, back in the days of the Rift, drowning in her cycle of revenge. Kutomba wewe, teef,” sliced and hissed through her clenched teeth, combining and conforming a series of languages, gauging for a reaction in the strife and anarchy.

--

Melita falls to the ground when she’s pounced on by Kiada, suffering from deep scratches into her collarbone and arms. Fangorn attempts to help Loren.

Loren was keeping him too busy to worry about Melita and Kiada - something Jigano would regret later, when the game was over and the healing was just beginning. For the moment, though, Loren was doing exactly what Jigano wanted him to do: burning through his magic while the bard conserved his own for the later contest. Even so, he shouldn't let the summoner have it too easy, so the white snake shifted carefully back into a human, still laying flat in the grass with the flag hidden under him. He watched the wolf get close to the ravaged earthen box, and when it was roughly ten feet away he used his earth magic to open a chasm beneath the summoned beast, attempting to drop it into it. If successful he'd fast-grow a net of vines over the top of the sudden chasm to try and keep the beast contained.

Jigano shifts to human and uses earth magic to try and open a chasm (~10 feet deep) beneath the wolf. If successful, he creates a net of vines over the top of the chasm to keep the creature contained, hoping Loren is too distracted by Fangorn and Oliver to notice that his second wolf's progress has stopped.
