Despite the victory that she feels when she has Melita pinned, it’s nothing compared to the blinding pain she feels on the side of her as the staff hits her. But that’s not it, no, she staggers off of Melita and shifts into herself, kneeling into the earth as she sees stars – only those seem particularly real in comparison, stars molding into something else, something other, and for a second she can see her brother there, peering back at her from the earth enough that her breath hitches.
It flickers and is gone and returns, and she squints hard against the sight as she shakes her head as though she can lose the sight, lose the feeling of seeing her brothers face, so similar to her own yet so different, as she goes to stand and face Melita again, despite the blood that races down her hands from where she’d clawed Melita. A grit to her teeth. “Umefanya nini?!” She accuses, trying to see through the hallucination to snatch Melita’s staff from her.
Kiada freaks out and sees Kianzo, and tries to steal Melita’s staff.
