The potter apparently does routine scans now, because he felt a calling from some rubble in the distance. Standing up, and pushing through the muddy terrain, he began clearing the rocks, almost in a trance. Eventually, he uncovered a curious-looking square.
Holding it up, he frowned, all traces of teasing gone. ”Huh. Wonder what this is.” His eyes were easily able to see it even in the darkness of the tunnel. Squeezing it with the fingers of one hand, he discovered that it was definitely not natural. Sniffing it for good measure, he eventually rolled it between his palms, trying to figure out why in the world he’d even known it was there.
