The King was always a hard man to get along with, and nobody knew until my eighteenth birthday when he sort of dropped it on me.” She pauses as she thinks about it, squeezing his hand gently before she looks back up to him. “I sort of just imagined I’d stay a servant my whole life, and I was fine with that. I had a good section and life was easy and fine. But then they told me I was supposed to go marry the prince of the land we’d been at war with for decades, and when they told me that it was… Frightening, to be honest.” She says softly, squinting lightly.
