Nate nods, heaving a sigh out of habit rather than any need to do so. The smile is gone from his face completely, replaced by a serious frown, a tic in his jaw like he was chewing over a problem. ”Okay. Okay, uh, well first off, not to say I told you so the first time we’ve met but... there’s fluid in your lungs.” There’s no easy way around this admission, no way to make it sound better. So Nate just does what he thinks he’d want, gives Sunjata a moment to digest his words, then continues. ”It’s worse than just pneumonia, and it’s going to keep getting worse. But it can get better. No more smoking, no more drinking, at the very least.”
