Loren’s scoffing does little to move Sunjata as he evades the question in a roundabout way once more, and when the summoner puts it point blank, Sunjata’s own gaze narrows on him. “Am I planning to? No. Have I already? Yes.” He snaps, heaving slightly. Part of him wishes he’d have picked her over Phoebe, picked anyone but what he’s shackled with. “I will be faithful. But Phoebe knows that I’ve done it in the past because I did it with her. The only time I did it.” He lets his gaze scan Loren’s.
At the soft, almost desperation in the offer, Sunjata shakes his head. “No.” He doesn’t want it. He doesn’t want some miracle fix, he wants to work for it to get better. Had he wanted to be healed earlier, he could’ve gone to Loren first and asked, pleaded for it, but no. He’s fine on his own, getting better slowly. And if Phoebe wanted to play healer and wife, to dote on her husband, then so be it.
And when Sunjata considers the option that Loren sets before him, resulting in the flood giving in, he sighs and shakes his head. “The only one getting anything they want out of this is her. It’s not equitable in the slightest.” A muscle feathers in his jaw before he reaches below the bar for a piece of parchment and a quill. But he’ll do it, he doesn’t care anymore. He’s over it all.
He says the words as he writes them, giving Loren the direct translation. “Deur my bloed is jy myne van vandag af.” He pauses, gaze remaining on the paper. “By my blood, you are mine from this day forth.” His gaze lifts to Loren as he slides the paper over to him. “Happy?”
