They were difficult lines to measure in the sand, in the earth, in the muck and mire and delusions. His considerations towards Sunjata wasn’t currently in the appealing sanctions; exasperated at the notion of some wedding made entirely of spite (and perhaps there was some bitterness accord in there too; where he and Amalia couldn’t move past just promises and convictions now), irritated for Hotaru. But he also wasn’t above utilizing someone’s information, wisdom, and sagacity for manipulative means (the past was the past, but sometimes the Reaper thrived in this atmosphere, quiet, composed, and absorbing anything he could grasp). So for now there wasn’t any time for indulgence, into biting down on the raw anguishes and torments, into stupidity and how it rang from chord to chord, how it affected everyone in a different light.
His eyes scoured, nodding, not attending to much else; save for a few twisting, turning shadows, fragments of potential predators without moonlight to guide his eyes, the scalding of fire burning against his senses. The beast lifted the torch back and forth, searching, searching, searching, and there may have been some pleading notions scattered across his brain, on a sigh, on a whim, on some mercurial aspects straining not to feign exhaustion.
Then Deimos spotted a brownish tinge, swiftly moving closer, closer, swarming in like a hound to its prey, spying clumps upon clumps of the plant off to one side. “Found it,” he murmured, and something in his chest, in his heart, felt the most intense manifestation of relief – plucking a single herb in between his fingers.
