The ruffians weren't without their magic either.

The blade would slice against Loren's hip, bony as it was, slicing the drab fabric quite neatly before it was plunged into the thug's palm. With a howl that turned into a snarl, the blood that appeared suddenly turned black and glowed a horrific green. Swearing under his breath the pierced-man tried to wipe the blood onto Loren's cheek or neck. If he was successful, the Launceleyn would find the blood quite acidic.

Wolves though, that was a surprise. One of the attackers turned into a seabird and flew onto the roof, cawing loudly below. The other spun and tried to punch at the wolf, though no doubt its counterpart would soon lend its aid and he'd find himself quite overrun.

Hearing this commotion, Remi turned to watch this scene with a vaguely amused smirk. "Good then, Loren?" He called, watching Loren's ludicrous stillness despite the chaos around him.

Even as the attacks continued, Loren didn’t stir from his spot. The green blood burned against the summoner’s cheek, so he created water there to wash it off as best he could. Then he tossed that water into the thugs eyes.

The punch connected, but considering the wolf didn't feel pain, it did little to deter it as it tried to snap its jaws closed, aiming to sink its teeth down to  the bones of the thug's calf. The second wolf went for acid man, attempting to tackle him aside. The Launceleyn completely ignored both the thug who fled and Remi, as well as the wound on the summoner's hip.

I'm sorry, have you ever mixed water and acid? No of course not. Because it isn't a good idea. Heat bloomed from the mixture adding nice scalding marks in addition to the acid's damage. Water in the eyes though? While the thug spluttered, he didn't move. Instead he'd try and pull out the knife from his palm to stab it up and into Loren's gut.

With a snarl the thug whose leg was currently being bear-trapped by the wolf's jaws shouted a word in another language. Both wolves disappeared at once. It was a rare custom magic to be able to dispel summoned animals, but a useful trick in situations like these.

The burning sensation on Loren's cheek intensified, but he steadfastly ignored it. As the thug attempted to removed the knife from his palm, the summoner reached out again with his telekinesis, aiming to twist it around, both to do more damage and to prevent the attacked from from getting a grip on it. When his summoned animals disappeared, he finally reacted, eyes widening for the briefest moment.

Then he turned his palms outwards, and icicles exploded from them. The two jagged pieces flew straight towards the two men's guts with as much speed and force as the Launceleyn could muster. Still, his expression was almost impassive.

The twist of the knife was indeed successful, severing sensitive veins that rendered the man's remaining fingers useless. Perhaps a knee to the groin would serve him better.

Skewered by ice and dropped to the ground as they were, the alchemist witnessed this with eyes that had grown wide. Ice. Death. His teeth ground unconsciously and the scar tissue on his chest began to itch. Remi's stomach muscles tensed and his chin rose as if to ward off bile. It was to close to (not home) death, and stars danced before Remi's eyes as the men dropped to the ground.

Loren hadn't answered Remi's call, and so the alchemist turned a blind if not entirely stunned and shocked eye away, the burden on his shoulder suddenly all the lighter for the trauma he'd just witnessed.

As the two thugs dropped, Loren watched them. That same uncanny blank look adorned his features. Turning his head, he stared at the third thug for a brief moment. Then the summoner swept his gaze across the crowd.

Although even that brief exertion had left him more drained than he was used to, he didn’t show it. Instead, he liquified the ice slowly, leaving the two thugs to bleed momentarily. Sky blue light crawled over his cheek and his hip, healing what damage it could.

At that point, he pushed himself off the wall and began walking away, turning his back on the carnage he wrought. He wasn't stupid though: he compelled some gulls to watch his back and warn him of any retaliation. A bit of sky blue light shot towards the fallen attackers, though the Launceleyn only healed them to the point where they wouldn't die. With that, he resumed his careful way back to the portal.

And once again, he didn't look back.
