so you say you want a deathbed scene, the knowledge that comes
before knowledge
and you want it dirty
Nate considers the smoke in his fingers, then looks up over the damage and brings it up to his lips. He inhales, turning back towards Sunjata as he does, pulling in until he can’t anymore, until he’s left with nothing but a tube of ash, hanging between his lips. ”I guess that’s the best you could hope for, if this was her plan.” As he talked his hand came up quickly, catching the ash that fell as he spoke.

His foot dips out to scoop the offered chair close enough to sit in, and then flops down, crossing his arms as he goes. ”Glad I could help.” The words came after a moment where Nate really had to think about it, had to hope that it would do something to lighten the mood, instead of just pissing Sunjata off. He didn’t even know the other man that well, he had no idea how he’d react to certain jokes. Gods, that made all this that much worse, didn’t? They barely knew each other, and two relationships had been torn apart. He hummed, grimacing as the thought went through his mind and exhaled the smoke in a slow drain through his nose.

The grimace only deepened with the next question, Nate shaking his head a little. But, they were standing in the shattered remains of Sunjatas relationship, the least he could do was share his implosion. ”Yea. I did. He kicked me out. Said not to come back.” His brows pulled together in something that could be a deep sorrow, but could also be a mild indifference. Nate sighed again, then reach out towards Sunjata, his palm facing up like he was offering something. ”Smoke?” Or begging.
and no one can figure out what you want
and you won’t tell them
