She can see the signs he gives before he pounces, lightly, trying to take the edge off and not crush her, after all. And so when he dives toward her she sinks down again, and he misses her – landing on the wood with a loud thump before he whirls, tail flicking idly to see where she’d been. His head is ducked, and he focuses intently on where she is as she rolls and launches herself at him, causing a briefness of surprise to flicker through his stormy gaze.
And then she latches on, and there’s a deep reverberation of a growl as she clamors onto his back, wrapping arms and legs around him that he instinctively tries to avoid but can’t.
But he can do this. So as she climbs onto his back, he drops to his shoulder, effectively attempting to roll over onto her to get her to let go, ears flattened and amusement flickering through his body at the new shift of training, of games, wondering and pining for that elusive kiss.
