From being an Abandoned who had rarely left the Hollowed Grounds, to embracing the call of adventure, to dying and being reborn first as an Ascended and then as an Ancient, Maea has gone through quite the amount of changes in her life. One thing remains common, though, in her attempts to find out just where she belongs; she’s always had a craving for knowledge which has brought her to so many places and to meet so many people here in Caido. We can’t wait to see what else is in store for her!
Congratulations, Maea!

Court of the Fallen was created in October of 2018 by Odd, Honey, and Crooked.
Skinning and hosting by the epically talented Kaons, and functionality fanciness by the coding magic of Neowulf. If you ever see either of them around, make sure to show them some love!

MORGAN
Zariah's lightning bolt, combined with the distraction of Loren's geese (an extra element of chaos that made Morgan want to roll her eyes and forget this mission ever happened), did indeed bring about the end of the guards, especially as Peter finished them with his knives. The two fallen men brought Morgan no joy - already she could hear noise from the direction of the village.
"Your foolish attack has alerted the town. We do not have long and we are meant to have as few causalities as possible." She would certainly be speaking to Neron about this. As far as she could tell, the only reason Zariah was in such a position of power was her relation to him; why else would someone so rash and frankly, dim, achieve such a station? "Ingrid, head back. You cannot defend yourself in the face of what has been brought upon us. Peter, escort her."
Morgan walked forward briskly to the mouth of the cave, stepping over the bodies of the guards with a decidedly targeted sigh. "If either of you possess water magic, help me freeze the entrance. If you do not, help to defend from the siege Zariah has no doubt guaranteed us." With that said, she held out her hands and began to pour a huge amount of water into the first chamber of the cave - once it was filled, it would be a wall of ice almost impossible to break through in any sort of timely or easy manner.

Either help Morgan fill the cave up, or stand ready to fight the oncoming townspeople! No Order

This PQ is continuing with just Zariah and Loren, for now.
If Ingrid wants to rejoin, she's welcome to. Peter is uh, dead, and timelines are weird, so we're writing him out.
Loren remained silent during Morgan's tirade. When she asked for help with the mine, he just stepped forward. Directing his geese to keep watch for any attack on Ingrid and Peter, he raised both hands, one in the direction of the town and the other in the direction of the mine.
The gestures weren't strictly necessary, simply a focus exercise. One he needed as ice started pouring from both hands. The ice heading towards the mine reinforced Morgan's efforts there. The other he raised in a clear and thick wall between themselves and any potential attackers from the mine. It would hopefully protect them from any ranged attacks, while allowing them to use their magic at a distance.
Loren assists Morgan with freezing the entrance to the mine. He also raises a clear and thick ice while between them and anyone from Whitebrim.
Zariah merely rolled her eyes as Morgan began her angry tirade. "Scared of the people of one measely town of cannibal vagabonds, Captain? I tremble at the thought of your cowardice in the face of a real threat then." she said dryly, stepping forward to stand guard in front of the mine they were there to freeze. She did not have powerful enough water magic to be of use there, and so she would make sure no threats could make their way to the duo.
If you could call half-starved criminals a threat of course.
With her back to Morgan and Loren, Zariah would scan the distance, magic at the ready to cast Life Drain and Lightning on any who dared approach.
"If you think this is about fear, I worry about your intellect when you try and teach the students at your academy." Morgan bit back, unable to resist; of course she was not scared of the townsfolk. The matter was that they were still Halovians, even in exile, and to limit their deaths was the right thing to do - not that she expected Zariah, with her eagerness to attack, to understand that.
With Loren helping to freeze and Zariah defending (a couple of villagers ran towards her, either running or losing the fight with her life drain), it was at least a quick job. As much water as she could manage pouring from her hands, Morgan had swiftly filled enough of the mine for it to be inaccessible for any cannibals looking for a snack - then it was time to freeze it, which was a matter of seconds. "There. Thank you, Loren, for your assistance."
As soon as the blocking was complete she cut off her magic and stepped back. "Let's make a swift exit. I will be talking with Neron about your performances today." Whether it would be a positive report or not...well, they could probably guess.

Thanks for helping!
feel free to post an ending post~
Loren very carefully schooled his features into a neutral mask as Zariah and Morgan went back and forth. Focusing on his water magic, he nodded as the Captain mentioned the job was done. Lowering his hands, he took a moment to glance in the direction of the village of Whitebrim, narrowing his eyes slightly.
"You're welcome. Any time." At the mention of reporting to Neron, he tilted his head to one side. Then he nodded, clearly not that worried about what she might say. With that, he began making his way away from any potential attackers, not willing to risk it.
And not willing to risk sticking around for a confrontation between Morgan and Zariah.
