MAEA
Carry me through this world alive
I feel no more, this suffering
I feel no more, this suffering
Puzzled by the odd reaction, Maea searched his face and found it distant, almost cold. Considering that this was their first encounter in some time, she didn't think it was something she'd done - she'd not had the time to cause offense yet - and though the smile remained, it faded a bit.
"Well... no, I guess you are not. I'm sorry, if you're busy I won't keep you. I just... wanted to talk? It's good to see you again."
His not-quite-question was rather a bit more warranted, of course. Her presence here was not entirely warranted, not yet, but it was as much of a done deal as it could be. "I will be studying at the Academy," she revealed with a slight shrug. "Seems my quest for change brought on a few too many to handle on my own... I've come into some magic since we met." A slight grimace as she said it suggested her discovery of it had not gone down too well.
Even as she spoke, she watched Loren, his reactions - or rather lack thereof. It was decidedly different from how he'd been last time, where shadows had abounded behind his eyes but not crowded them so overwhelmingly as now. If he'd been broody before, he seemed all but numb now. It was... alarming. A bit disconcerting.
"Loren... did something happen?" she asked. Not sure if he would answer, if he wanted to talk at all. While willing to listen to her problems, he'd been none too forthcoming about his own.

Bury me in this cold light
I feed the wolf, and shed my skin
I feed the wolf, and shed my skin
