So he lets her cry, holding her close, letting her tears and sobs rack through her. “Shh, it’s okay.” He hums to her, pressing his face into the side of her neck, into her cheek, nose brushing against her neck as he tries to tell her that he’s here. “One step at a time. We’ll get you there.” A reverberation of his voice, muffled within her hair, the hand that cradles her back drifts in soothing motions along her spine.
“I did it by realizing that there wasn’t anything to gain from living in the past. You can’t go back, you can’t change anything. It is what it is. It’s what you do with it that matters.” He offers after a few moments as well.
