The matter was that they were still Halovians, even in exile, and to limit their deaths was the right thing to do - not that she expected Zariah, with her eagerness to attack, to understand that.
With Loren helping to freeze and Zariah defending (a couple of villagers ran towards her, either running or losing the fight with her life drain), it was at least a quick job. As much water as she could manage pouring from her hands, Morgan had swiftly filled enough of the mine for it to be inaccessible for any cannibals looking for a snack - then it was time to freeze it, which was a matter of seconds. "There. Thank you, Loren, for your assistance."
As soon as the blocking was complete she cut off her magic and stepped back. "Let's make a swift exit. I will be talking with Neron about your performances today." Whether it would be a positive report or not...well, they could probably guess.
