Her smile was sly, knowing, realizing what he was doing and not doing. Talking, but without actually revealing anything. Now, she could pressure him to talk about this 'shit' he had done, and see if she could help him reason it out... but if he really did not care?
She shrugged. "I mean... If you really don't care, then why feel bad about not feeling bad? Unless perhaps you actually do care about what you've done, and not done... and this is just an excuse not to deal with it.
"Either way, the past is in the past, and what really matters is what you do from now on." Maea dragged her fingers through the hair, pushed back the white tumble from her face and left it messier than it had been before, not seeming to care about it one way or another. "Often, I find that when you can't get something out of your mind... it's because it's supposed to stay there. Or possibly because I don't have enough work to block it out with.
"Got any projects to busy yourself with, besides my interesting case?"
The smile she gave him was rather mischievous, her mood brightening and opening up now that the tension was draining away. "Oh, go ahead and get lost all you want. I won't spoil the surprise for you... and you can always count on me to find the way back for you, if you need it." Her elbow jutted back at him, accompanied by a quiet laugh.
