He glanced at the birds above, then at the one that was wriggling it's way out of Sam's grip. Well, he was, here, he might as well help. He stepped in just as the hel freed itself from his ex's grasp, reaching down to catch the bird off guard.
If he was successful, he'd keep one hand wrapped securely around the birds neck, hopefully enough to keep him from getting pecked at in a similar fashion. "You really gotta work on holding on to things Sam." He said, the words light enough to be a tease if he was talking to anyone else. The realization of how it would come across hit him a moment later though, and he turned on his heel, trying to hide the slight wince.
