The lack of specific information was irritating, but one thing Nate had said struck Josh as interesting. Holding his notebook up to make some quick scribbles, he asked: "Conspicuous? Has there been conflict between the newcomers and the locals?" Wouldn't be surprising. No one liked new people showing up at their home.
Admittedly, Josh hadn't been in Staten Island for a very long time, but he smiled and gave Nate a nod anyway - if the man felt a connection to him through their hometowns, it meant he might be more likely to tell secrets.
